Crafters for a Cause

UCC Congregational, Burlington Crafters for a Cause

Members gather to knit and crochet special gifts for those in need.

Crafters for a Cause (C4C) is a group of women who meet Wednesday afternoons to knit, crochet, embroider, quilt, and/or work on a variety of ongoing projects, while sharing advice, patterns, conversation, caring, and laughter. Much of the yarn and other material we use has been donated by members and friends of the congregation. Anyone is most welcome to join us at any time!

Our mission is tri-fold, we make goods which we sell at our church’s annual fundraiser, the Olde Tyme Faire. We create items for our church’s ministries and we create items, which are donated to local non-profit organizations.
Our church has a prayer shawl ministry, in which prayer shawls are given to people who are in need of our extra support and love. We also give away knitted prayer squares, which are the size of a keychain and can be kept in a purse, wallet or pocket to remind the person that they’re loved by God and our faith community. We also knit baptism blankets, which are blessed by our church and are given to an infant at their baptism. If you or someone you love would like a prayer shawl or square, please be in touch with our pastor, we’d love to give you one.

In addition to creating items to sell at the Olde Tyme Faire, and the aforementioned products, which are used by our congregation, we also create many products that get donated to local non-profit organizations. Items that we have made and donated are: hats, mittens, scarves, lap robes, prayer shawls, blankets, rag rugs, dish cloths and pot holders. We donate to Boston City Mission Society, Dana Farber Cancer Center, Sawtelle Family Hospice House, Office of Veterans’ Affairs, Katie’s Closet (for homeless students) and Mission of Deeds.

Even if you aren’t crafty or you don’t know how to knit, join us on any Thursday! We will work with you and find something fun for you to do!
